In-Home Pet Euthanasia in Central New Jersey

Hi there - If you are reading this, I imagine you are mulling over a very difficult decision for your companion. You have gotten this far, so take a deep breath, everyone at Lap of Love is here to support you.

I grew up in the small town of Tewksbury, NJ. With a mother who preferred animals on the outside of our rural windows, I had to write a persuasive essay to convince her to allow me to adopt my first cat. The companionship that my sweet Smokey girl provided ignited a fire in my childhood-self that blazed the path to my professional future. A veterinarian was born.

When it came time to apply to college, I found myself drawn to Dairyland – Madison, WI. In fact, I enjoyed Madison so much that I stuck around for veterinary school – Go Badgers! During veterinary school, I worked part-time as a student nurse in the Small Animal Critical Care Unit. This position was not only valuable for my education, but it also honed skills in recognizing pain and assessing quality of life in animals.

Now back on the East coast, my goal is to help guide you and your family through all of the stages of loving a pet. I will help you interpret your companion’s subtle behaviors to enhance quality of life, and I will be there to ensure a peaceful goodbye.

I’m honored to help serve my community in this way. I currently live in Somerville, NJ with my boyfriend, handicapped Chihuahua Mix, and 18-year-old cat. In my spare time, I enjoy interior design, watching documentaries, and honing my (struggling) green thumb.

I was born and raised in central New Jersey and have always had a love for animals. I found my calling to veterinary medicine in my teenage years while working at local small animal hospitals. The connections I made with pets and families, and the experience of working in a hospital setting were like no other. It was the perfect first job and set the stage for my entire career!  

After high school, I ventured out of New Jersey and attended Tufts University in Massachusetts for my undergraduate education. Though I continued to work at small animal hospitals during my summer breaks, athletics have always been as much of a passion of mine as animals, so I spent most of my time in undergrad playing softball (Go Jumbos!). Once completing my undergraduate degree, I moved to the city and attended the University of Pennsylvania for veterinary school. The summer after my first year of vet school, I adopted my very own first pet, a petite kitty named Xena. Xena was 14 years old when she came into my life and lived until the age of 21. It was through her that I developed a deep love and appreciation for pets in their golden years, and the desire to make those years the best of their lives.  

As a veterinarian, I spent several years working in emergency medicine in New Jersey. Working in this type of environment opened my eyes to the importance of end-of-life care and helping families through these most difficult times. These experiences reinforced my desire to guide families through their pet’s transition, making it as peaceful and comfortable as possible, and ultimately led me to Lap of Love.  

When I am not helping families, you can usually find me at home with my rambunctious cat, Orion, or at the gym. I dedicate most of my free time to the sport of Olympic Weightlifting, as well as participating in CrossFit. I also love to travel and explore new places. Some of my most memorable vacations have been to Alaska, Oklahoma City and Disney World.
